The first thing everyone is probably asking themselves when reading the subject of this email is “Do we really need another matrimonial website?” We believe the answer is yes. The second question that may come to mind is “Ok…why?” To that we would simply ask you to try the following. Do a Google or Bing search for “Muslim matrimonial”. You are likely to see a list of results such as the following:
SingleMuslim.com
MuslimMatrimony.com
Nikah.com
MuslimWedding.org
You can visit each of these and you’ll see pretty much the same thing. You can search of a brother or sister based on their age, affiliation/sect and location.
Now do a search of “online dating” and you will get a list results such as:
PlentyOfFish.com
KissCafe.com
LavaLife.com
Singles123.com
You can visit each of these sites and you’ll see pretty much the exact same content as you saw on the matrimonial websites with the exception of the ability to search by affiliation/sect. The first question we would ask is “Is looking for a husband/wife the same as looking for a girl/boy-friend?” Ask any married person and I guarantee you they would say that it’s no-where near the same.
The reason many of these sites look and feel the same is because the majority of them are created by the same companies. These are primarily created by Non-Muslim dating corporations that though that it would be easy enough to meet a new target market by adding the ability to search by the usual things as well by the affiliation/sect you’re looking for. How can a non-Muslim corporation know what type of information Muslims are looking for when trying to find a husband/wife? There are a few Muslim run websites but they seem to be following the same model as these dating sites.
